Young Woman Delivers Very Rare Identical Twins After Being Told To Abort

Having twins is pretty uncommon, but sometimes there are situations that make it even more surprising. This is what happened to Savanah Combs, a 23-year-old mom who was getting ready to welcome twins, but she didn’t expect what would happen next.

In recent years, the chances of having twins have gone up, with about 33 out of every 1000 births resulting in twins. Identical twins are much rarer, happening about 10 times less often. For Savanah, she ended up having identical twins who both have Down syndrome, which is an incredibly rare situation.

When Savanah and her husband Justin first found out they were expecting twins, they were super excited. But when they discovered that their babies had Down syndrome, it made the pregnancy feel a bit more complicated.

Even though they were worried about how others might react, they never thought about not having the babies. Savanah believes that the uniqueness of her children makes them even more special.

She shared, “What they have is really rare, but they’re my little treasures.”

Savanah, who lives in Florida, started posting videos on TikTok about her life after giving birth. Soon, her videos became really popular.

In one of her videos, she talked about how she decided to keep the babies even after being advised to have an abortion. Doctors told her that the twins might not survive, so every doctor’s visit after they were born felt like a miracle to her.

Savanah learned about her children’s Down syndrome while Justin was away at boot camp. She gave birth to Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman at 29 weeks on May 12, 2021. The girls had to stay in the NICU for a few weeks because they were born early before they could finally go home.

The mom explained, “They’re called mono di twins, which means they each have their own sacs but share the same placenta, so they’re going to look alike.”

“Mo di twins are really rare. And when you add Down syndrome to that, it’s like one in 2 million.”

Savanah continued to talk about the little girls, saying, “They have feelings. They have a heartbeat. They can talk and do things just like you. They will get there,” she said.

“Like I mentioned, they might be a little behind, but they will catch up. I’ve learned that these kids are really spirited and joyful.”

Even though some people criticize her choices, the young mom stays strong. Sometimes, she has to respond to mean comments online.

In the end, she has a lovely family, and she feels proud of them.
